Carroll Boone - Grossmont Union High School District Board Candidate

Quality education is an American tradition

  • We must pass Proposition U School Bond to repair and upgrade schools.
  • We need an educated, productive, and self-sufficient workforce.
  • We must reverse this district’s rising drop-out rates and declining college enrollment rates.
  • We must provide vocational education to prepare our students for the future.
  • Our students must feel safe in their classrooms and on school grounds.
  • School funding must be allocated fairly and taxpayer dollars spent wisely.
  • Our decision-making process must be open and participatory.

Quality Education

a wise investment in the future of our

  • children
  • grandchildren
  • great-grandchildren
  • our community

Citizens in our community are tired of “wedge” issues that divide us. The education of our children is suffering.

We need change that is based on

  • finding common ground and
  • respecting differences.

What I will bring to the School Board

  • a fresh voice and new perspective
  • seasoned management skills
  • proven leadership
  • experience bringing people together around tough issues

I will lead by listening and responding to teachers, parents, and taxpayers. I will represent you with fairness and dignity.

My Background:  I am a lawyer and worked for 30 years in Washington State and local government programs (community development, conservation, public health). My responsibilities included overseeing staff, funding, grants, program activities and local providers.  I have training an experience as a facilitator, mediator, and community organizer.

I am a proud mother and grandmother. I live in La Mesa, where I attend La Mesa First United Methodist Church.  I come from a family of educators. My mother was an elementary school principal who created the first program for dyslexic students in Fairbanks, Alaska. My father taught high school level math, science, and photography. My sister retired after 33 years as a teacher and school librarian in the Denver area. I have taught and developed classes and workshops in conflict resolution, respect-based communications, problem solving and team building.
